Photography Gift Ideas for Moms

Over the years I have received messages asking me “what camera/gear should I buy if I want to start taking photos of my kids?” Capturing memories with your kids is priceless, but having the right gear can make it much easier and more fun! Whether you're a mom who loves snapping quick, candid photos or looking to invest a bit more in your photos, these photography gift ideas will help you beautifully preserve those everyday moments. From sleek cameras and tripods to easy-to-use editing tools, these picks are perfect for any mom who wants to document the joy of family life with ease and style.

Gift Idea 1: Compact Mirrorless Camera

Cameras have come a long way. Compact mirrorless cameras are great for just grabbing and going. Toss one in your purse, diaper bag, or backpack, and you’re all set. They are small enough that they won’t create a lot of bulk. And they are advanced enough that you can get some real-quality photos. They are perfect for catching those candid moments with your kids.

The Nikon Zfc is the answer to a stylish, retro-inspired compact camera. It even has a zoom lens. I love this!

This Fujifilm X-A5 Mirrorless Digital Camera is a more affordable option if you’re wanting something retro and compact that will still give you quality images.

Panasonic LUMIX G100 has video and photo capability. At an affordable price, you can’t beat this!

Gift Idea 2: Lightweight Tripod

We moms could use a third hand, am I right?! Tripods are great for setting up for those candid interactions with your kiddos. Place them on the ground or on a countertop and viola, your assistant has done it’s job. And now you can be in your photos, mom!

This Manfrotto Beefree tripod is a trusted name in the photography world. And, trust me, a good tripod is worth paying for!

Gift Idea 3: Stylish Camera Bag

Perhaps my favorite search thus far: the camera bag. Camera bags have REALLY come a long way. We used to only have one option: bulky black. But now there are so many companies on the market that offer an assortment of stylish camera bags–some look just like a purse or fanny pack. They can go with any outfit, and you can even store some of your personal items in them too, a win-win!

This Small Crossbody Bag is perfect for your compact camera.

This canvas camera bag by SMRITI is another camera bag that is super cute and can hold a larger DSLR camera, plus a couple of lenses.

Gift Idea 4: Photo Editing Software Subscription

You need this! There’s no way around it. Every photographer uses editing software. Lightroom is the most popular editing software on the market. They offer a desktop and a mobile version software. You can edit the images from your camera card on the computer. And then you can use the mobile app for all of your iphone images.

Gift Idea 5: Editing Presets for Camera and Phone Photos

Presets are where it’s at. They save time and make our images look pretty and professional. The presets that I suggest using have a desktop and a mobile version. So, you can use the desktop version on the images that you capture on your camera card. And the mobile version can be used with your iphone photos. My recommended presets are:

Mandy Ford Presets
Refined Presets
Noble Presets
