Best Spring Break Ideas for Families on The Treasure Coast
Best Outdoor Adventures for Spring Break on the Treasure Coast
Kayaking & Paddleboarding at Indian River Lagoon
One of the things that my husband and I keep talking about is how fun it would be to purchase a couple of paddle boards. But since we don’t own any, there are plenty of places around where you can rent either a paddle board or kayak and glide through the calm waters, where you can spot dolphins, manatees, and a variety of birds. Popular launch spots include the Indian River, Fort Pierce Inlet State Park and Round Island Park in Vero Beach.
Snorkeling & Diving at Bathtub Reef Beach
This Stuart gem is perfect for families and adventure seekers alike. The reef creates a calm, shallow lagoon ideal for snorkeling, where you can see tropical fish, sea turtles, and other marine life up close.
Hiking & Wildlife Spotting at Savannas Preserve State Park
Located in Port St. Lucie, this park offers miles of trails for hiking and wildlife viewing. Keep an eye out for gopher tortoises, bobcats, and beautiful wildflowers in bloom. (And look out for gators, too!)
Deep-Sea Fishing from Stuart or Fort Pierce
Did you know that Stuart is the “Sailfish Captial of the World”? I’ve taken deep-sea fishing adventures before and they are so fun. Your older kids would love this! Charter a boat for a half-day or full-day trip and try your luck at catching sailfish, mahi-mahi, and kingfish.
Horseback Riding on the Beach at Frederick Douglass Memorial Park
Did you even know that you could experience horseback riding on the beach here on the Treasure Coast? I got the opportunity to try it once and it was a delight! The horses meet you at Frederick Douglass Beach in Fort Pierce. Guided tours are available, making it a bucket-list-worthy activity for any spring breaker.
Biking the Historic Jungle Trail in Vero Beach
I’ve lived on the Treasure Coast my whole life and have never even heard of the Jungle Trail in Vero Beach before. This scenic, unpaved trail winds through a maritime hammock along the Indian River Lagoon, offering stunning views and a chance to experience old Florida’s natural beauty.
Camping at Jonathan Dickinson State Park
We are doing this for the first time this year! We’re taking our camper and staying a few nights at Johnathan Dickinson State Park in Hobe Sound. I’m excited and cannot believe we’ve never camped here! The park offers kayaking, mountain biking, hiking, and guided boat tours along the Loxahatchee River.
Indoor Fun for a Rainy Spring Break Day
Skyzone Trampoline Park
Ever since I took my son to Skyzone, he keeps asking to take him back. Defy is an indoor trampoline park located in St. Lucie West. It has foam pits, trampolines, zip lines and fun obstacle courses. It’s not suited for toddlers. But I think your 4 year old - 12 year old would love it.
Location: 440 NW Peacock Blvd, Port St. Lucie, FL 34986

The Children's Museum of the Treasure Coast
We recently visited the Children’s museum for a field trip and loved it! There are many cute little centers for the kiddos to enjoy. It’s the perfect place for your toddlers and young children to explore and play.
Location: 1707 NE Indian River Drive, Jensen Beach, FL 34957
Children's Museum of the Treasure Coast
Wonderstruck Play Studio
I haven’t personally visited, but I have seen photos and video on social media. It looks like a super fun place to bring your toddlers! An indoor play space featuring various play areas and offering art and craft activities for children.
Location: 3503 NW Federal Highway, Jensen Beach, FL 34957
