Where to Shop in West Palm Beach for Maternity Clothes

Being pregnant in Florida (especially during the summer) can be brutal. The heat and humidity can be trying. And, when you’re shopping for the perfect outfit to wear to your maternity session, finding maternity clothes that are comfortable and keep you cool is important! But, that doesn’t mean that you can’t look cute, too! I remember when I discovered maternity overalls—I pretty much lived in those my entire pregnancy. It can be difficult to find exactly what you’re looking for that is why I did all of the research for you. Alas, I am here to help show you where to shop in West Palm Beach for your maternity clothes.

Let me say something right out the gate: it is HARD to find brick and mortar stores in the Palm Beach area that carry maternity clothes. Trust me, I even called several consignment shops and no one carries maternity wear. You will find that some of my recommendations are online boutiques.

Why Choosing the Right Maternity Clothes Matters

Comfort and style are the things to consider when choosing the right maternity clothes. After all, we live in a subtropical climate here in South Florida. Being pregnant and living in mostly a hot and humid environment can be a challenge. So, you’re definitely going to want to stick with things that you are comfortable in. But that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice fashion to do so.

Also, consider you maternity photos. When it comes to finding the perfect outfit for your maternity photos, there can be so many options and it can feel overwhelming. As a photographer, I tell my clients all the time that maxi dresses are my favorite for maternity sessions. There can be so many options and maxi dresses are so versatile—you can even wear them postpartum and they still look great!

Online Boutiques

Full disclaimer here. A lot has changed in the last few years especially after covid. Things like Pea in the Pod and Motherhood Maternity no longer have brick and mortar locations like they used to. It is sad, really. But fortunately, there are tons and tons of places to shop online. And, perhaps that is even more convenient for you! Below are a few of my favorite online boutiques to shop for maternity clothes.

  • Pink Blush - They sell tops, bottoms, dresses, pj’s and swimwear. Their stretchy elastic waist pants are sooo cute! They even have petite-friendly and tall-friendly options. It may just be me, but I don’t recall there being online boutiques like this when I was pregnant with my first in 2016.

Worth Collective - Not an exclusive maternity boutique, but they do have a beautiful line of bump friendly dresses…this would be perfect for your maternity session! If I was looking to purchase a dress for my maternity session, this is where I would go! Head to ‘shop by collection’ tab to find the ‘bump friendly collection’.

Nothing Fits But - this is an online boutique that carries maternity, clothes for kids, jumpsuits, swimwear and a variety of other items. But their maternity dresses are beautifully made and uniquely high end. Of course I have maternity sessions on my mind, so if you are looking for a maternity dress that is unique and timeless at the same time, this is the place to shop for that.

Bae - An online boutique that carries a wide assortment of maternity and nursing friendly clothes. They are located in Melbourne Australia but the ship all over the world. A little bit on the pricey side, but they specialize in maternity and nursing friendly clothes only, so perhaps that is why. They have cute stuff for everyday as well as special occasions like dresses for your baby shower and hospital gowns/robes.

Hatch - Find all things maternity and nursing friendly. Work wear, 4th trimester stuff, lounge wear, pj sets, dresses, nursing friendly tops. Everything you need for everyday maternity life is here!

  • Motherhood + Pea in the Pod are former brick and mortar stores that were in The Gardens Mall. You can still shop online.

Tips for Shopping Online

  • Be sure to always check the clearance tab, you can find deals up to 60% off or more!

  • Shop in advance. If you have already scheduled your maternity photo session, start shopping right away so that the item will have enough time to ship to you. You can always try on your item and ship it back if it doesn’t fit. Bonus: purchase from a few different shops and only keep what fits.

  • If you’re having a photo session, consider Rent the Runway. RTR would be perfect for this one time maternity photo session occasion.

  • Thoroughly check the return policy and stick to the deadline in case you need to send things back.

What to Look for When Shopping for Maternity Clothes

Keep your eyes peeled for high waisted maxi dresses. They are so versatile. You can wear them during your pregnancy, postpartum period and keep in your closet for years if you want. Super stretchy tanks are the best. They literally grow with you. Elastic band lounge pants…I lived in these during my pregnancies.

Let’s Wrap Things Up

When it comes to shopping for maternity clothes in West Palm Beach, online boutiques are probably going to be your best bet in finding maternity clothes. Budget friendly brick and mortar stores such as TJ Maxx and Marshall’s are also great options (if you know of any in WPB that I missed, please let me know!) When thinking about your maternity session, go for a long maxi dress. Super flowy and feminine!

I’d love to hear about where you shopped for your maternity clothes when you were expecting. Did you live in Where in West Palm Beach did you shop?
